What We Believe
What We Believe
The basic and fundamental doctrine of New Life Tabernacle is that the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It instructs us in our relationship with God and is the only authority for salvation and Christian living. (II Timothy 3:15-17)
There is only one God, infinite in power and Holy in nature. He has revealed Himself as our Father, in His Son, Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. Being born of virgin birth, He was both human and divine. The saving Gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. Through Christ's death, burial and resurrection, redemption and justification were made available to all persons who accept Him. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16)
We believe in the Biblical standard of salvation, which is repentance (death to sin), immersive water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins (burial), and the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance (resurrection). (Acts 3:19; I Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 6:3-4; Acts 2:3-4; Acts 2:37-39; Acts 10:45-47, Acts 19:1-7)
Because we proclaim the name of Jesus, we strive to live lives separated unto Him in righteousness and believe Christ shall appear in the clouds and call His redeemed people unto Himself, where they shall forever be with Him. (II Timothy 2:21; I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 1:7)
Beyond these foundational beliefs, we also believe that the Church is composed of Believers and that together we make up the Body of Christ. The role of the Church is to spread the Gospel not only in word, but also in acts. Each believer has a role to play (part of the Body) and is endowed with spiritual gifts to be used to build the Church and glorify God. We believe in cultivating fellowship, accountability, personal and moral growth, and serving those in need as Christ has called us to do. (I Corinthians 12:12-27; Matthew 28:16-20; Romans 15:2; James 1:27)
We believe in God's unfailing love. It was His love for us that caused Him to endure the cross and to rise again, so that we no longer have to be separated from Him. He has called us to love Him with our whole hearts and minds, and to love others as He loves us. (John 3:16; Psalms 136:26; Romans 5:8; Mark 12:30)
We believe that without faith, it is impossible to please God. The Word says all things are possible to him who believes. Therefore, we base our actions on the promises of God, not the circumstances we face. (Hebrews 11:1; Mark 9:23)
We believe in the power of prayer as the key to intercession with God. It is not fancy words that reach God's ear, but the act of calling out to Him with an open and willing heart. Prayer changes things when we trust that God is able, believe our prayers will be answered, and are willing to pray continually. (Matthew 6:7; Mark 11:24; I Thessalonians 5:16-18)
We believe in worshipping God exuberantly, as an act of submission and honor to Him. This can be performed through a range of expressions from songs of praise, to dance, to meditation. Taking the focus off ourselves and offering all we have to God; we are then able to lift Him up, allowing Him to draw nearer to us. (Psalm 66:1-4; John 12:32; John 4:24)
We believe in the Holy Communion as ordained by the Lord Jesus Christ and that it is to be administered to those who have received salvation. (Matthew 26:26-28; John 6:53-58; I Corinthians 11:24-25)
